Commercial Banking Summer Internship Programme

You'll work with a wide range of customers all around the world, providing them with business solutions. That might mean supporting customers with loans or project finance, or helping them raise money from the stock and bond markets. Regardless of which degree discipline you have come from, we will help you build the knowledge to succeed in our Commercial Bank. With the help of senior leaders and peers, you will develop a whole range of skills, while building on the ones that already set you apart from the competition.
Your option:
Commercial Banking Internship: eight weeks over the summer before your final year at university, giving exposure to the full range and complexity of the business area.
Retail Banking and Wealth Management Summer Internship Programme
Providing genuine inspiration to our customers, you'll help them make the right choices about their day-to-day finances, from securing a mortgage to choosing the appropriate investment products. Whether it be through our branches, telephone services or digital banking, we are dedicated to building long-term relationships with our diverse customers based in every corner of the world.
Your options:
We offer Internships of eight weeks during the penultimate or final year of your degree:
Retail Banking and Wealth Management: giving you experience of both customer-facing and core business roles.
Retail Banking and Wealth Management - Digital: providing exposure to areas like product development, business innovation and analytics.
Global Banking and Markets Summer Internship Programme
Corporates, governments and institutions around the world rely on our help to develop and deliver world class financial services and solutions to meet their needs. Global Banking and Markets is a hugely diverse business with opportunity to work internationally across all of our graduate programmes. Depending on which programme you choose, you could be helping enterprises capitalise their Belt and Road ambition, to enable governments to raise debt capital, or providing innovative financing solutions around working capital and longer term capital financing.

Internships: join us for eight weeks over the summer of your penultimate or final year of university. You'll gain insight and training whilst contributing to live client work in a fast-paced environment, working as part of supportive team.
Who can apply?
This programme is for students in their penultimate or final year of university study, who're expected to achieve degree during Sep 2019 - Jul 2020.

To be considered for a placement, you will:
Act with integrity, in keeping with HSBC's values
Have outstanding interpersonal skills, even when under pressure
Have strong commercial acumen and a flair for problem solving
Be self-motivated, confident and articulate
Successfully go through all relevant assessments
Can be dedicated to full-time internship during 4Jul-28Aug 2019 in Mainland China (5 days per week)
Can formally graduate before Jul 2020
What to expect
You'll complete an eight-week placement, where you'll contribute to a live project or a number of transactions, working with products and services experts across our international network. There will also be regular business and social events for you to attend in order to begin building a network of contacts.
Learning, development and support
The programme is composed of induction, tailor-made class-room training and placement. You'll join your placement team, where you'll receive a combination of practical experience and classroom training, and learn how our people tailor these to provide customers with solutions. You'll also be assigned a mentor and paired with a buddy during the 8 weeks' programme to enrich your experience.
